Take a look at my Gruffalo story mat and characters. I used it during our Monster Theme as a literacy unit resource.
The children used the resource to retell the events of the story.
Here I used a foam board and put two strips of Velcro, loop side. The cards have the hook side pasted at the back. The students use this activity during the morning center time to practice reading CVC words and matching to the correct picture.
This is a nice flannel board number sequencing activity. It can be done during circle time as well.
Students build CVC words using this cherry flannel board. I made it with felt circles glued on to a yellow foam board. I used Velcro strips for the letters cards. Children love to build words using this board. It surely is a great hands-on activity for building CVC words. Pictures can be given to aid building words. Children write the words they make on paper strips.
